Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk told “independent-minded” voters on the day before the midterm elections to cast ballots for Republicans.
“Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties,” the world’s richest man and new owner of Twitter said to his nearly 115 million followers on the platform, “therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.”
Musk already announced earlier this year that he cast a ballot for Mayra Flores, a Republican who beat Democrat Dan Sanchez in a special House of Representatives election in southern Texas. “I voted for Mayra Flores — first time I ever voted Republican,” Musk remarked. “Massive red wave in 2022.” When asked about who he was likely to support in the 2024 presidential election, Musk responded, “DeSantis.”
“I have voted overwhelmingly for Democrats, historically,” Musk also acknowledged. “Like I’m not sure, I might never have voted for a Republican, just to be clear. Now this election, I will.”
