The Daily Mail recently completed an analysis of prison records located in California’s Megan’s Law database, analyzing how long prisoners convicted of sex crimes against children spend behind bars. Clearly, someone should have undertaken a study like this long before now because the results are indeed shocking. Reporters looked at the files of thousands of pedophiles who committed multiple sex crimes against juveniles and found that the majority of them are released less than one year after initially being locked up. Some of the worst offenders actually wound up spending only a few weeks or even a few days behind bars before being put back out on the streets.
