Vice President JD Vance gave a statement to CBS News for an article about his mother-in-law, Lakshmi Chilukuri. They probably wish they hadn’t sent the inquiry.
In his statement, Vance blasts the outlet for “harassing” his mother-in-law and handles the matter with the kind of grace and aplomb we’ve come to expect from the vice president.
The crux of the report in question is that Chilukuri, who works in the Molecular Biology department at UC San Diego, has advocated for DEI policies during her tenure at the University. And Vance, the terrible son-in-law he is, is trying to dismantle her life’s work. Or something.
Vance’s statement, which initially lauds the administration’s efforts to eliminate racist DEI policies from every institution, is printed within the piece.
“I don’t like DEI, and I’m proud of what our administration has done on that front,” he said.
