Choose Capitalism This Labor Day With Jeremy’s Razors

Calling all freedom-loving facial hair enthusiasts: did you know Labor Day was cooked up by a bunch of socialists? It’s true. Even though most Americans see it as a free day off work, in reality, the origins of “International Workers’ Day” have deep roots in socialist and Marxist economic principles. 

Labor Day in the U.S. has its roots in the 1894 Pullman Railway Strike, which resulted in President Grover Cleveland pushing through legislation to recognize Labor Day as a “gesture towards organized labor,” according to labor historian Joshua Freeman.  

When Labor Day officially began in the U.S., many who celebrated it were pushing for fundamental changes to the “capitalist wage system” and advocating for collectivism and socialism. Of course, this radical activism associated with Labor Day soon died down as the holiday was celebrated year after year.
