Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) was slammed on social media Tuesday afternoon over her explanation of why she mocked Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has been confined to a wheelchair since he was permanently disabled in his 20s when a tree fell on him.
Speaking at a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles this week, Crockett mocked Abbott: “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, C’mon now.”
“And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-a** mess, honey,” she continued.
After facing significant backlash over her remarks, Crockett attempted to explain away what she said by claiming she was not talking about his physical disability.
