Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) issued a blistering statement after an aide was temporarily detained inside his Manhattan office by officers with the Department of Homeland Security when she allegedly obstructed efforts to track down pro-illegal alien rioters.
Nadler’s congressional office is in the same building as an immigration courthouse in Lower Manhattan.
The tense exchange between federal agents and the staffer erupted when one of the lawmaker’s aides invited two individuals who had been “monitoring” activity at the courthouse into the office. One of the DHS officers, as seen in a video obtained by Gothamist, can be heard accusing a staffer of “harboring rioters.”
The clip only captures the aide being cuffed while sobbing uncontrollably, not what led up to it, as an officer alleges the individual had pushed another agent.
