Ellen DeGeneres Addresses Daytime Show Departure During Stand-Up Return

Ellen DeGeneres addressed her departure from daytime TV following “toxic” workplace claims during her return to stand-up comedy as part of “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up” comedy shows.

During the 66-year-old comedian’s recent set at a nearly-sold out San Francisco Bay area show in Santa Rosa, DeGeneres thanked fans and talked about the end of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after 19 seasons, SF Gate reported. A Buzzfeed report published in 2020 about “The Ellen Show” claimed it was a “toxic” workplace — full of intimidation and even alleged sexual abuse.

“Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me,” the comedian told the crowd. “I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
