Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said over the weekend that changing the power dynamic in Ukraine is critical to forcing Russian President Vladimir Putin to the table and bringing the war to an end.
Crenshaw made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” with host Margaret Brennan when asked about what continued role the United States would have in backing Ukraine.
He said that the Trump administration wants lasting peace in Ukraine, which means that security assurances must be put in place to prevent future wars from erupting.
“I think the Europeans have to play a huge role in that,” he said. “One of the things that gets talked about a lot is European forces actually acting as a peacekeeping force.”
“The Ukrainians clearly have a seat at the table and then the United States will be the intermediary as we try to establish a peace deal,” he continued….
