When Peter Kuo, a Silicon Valley businessman whose family immigrated to the US from Taiwan when he was a teenager, ran for Vice Chair of the California Republican Party in 2019, a series of stories published by one of the state’s most well-known political bloggers detailed Kuo’s significant business relationships in both China and Russia. The point the blogger, Aaron Park, was making was that while Kuo owned numerous corporations, none of them seemed to be particularly lucrative, and that Kuo might be a bit of a con man.
