The FBI have reportedly visited a home dubbed by neighbors as a “hippie collective” in connection to the attack on Paul Pelosi, husband to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
Paul was assaulted Friday with a hammer by a home intruder identified by police as 42-year-old David DePape, who was reportedly asking “where’s Nancy.”
“FBI visits Berkeley home tied to Pelosi beating suspect,” public safety and investigative reporter for NBC Bay Area Jaxon Van Derbeken posted Friday, captioning an image of the home. “The Victorian is dubbed a ‘hippie collective’ by neighbors.”
A sign in one of the windows reads, “Berkeley Stands United Against Hate,” and another appears to be a hand-written “Black Lives Matter” sign. Outside the home appears to be an LGBT pride and marijuana-themed American flag.
NBC News reported that a man at the house visited by the FBI said that DePape hadn’t lived there for a decade. The man also declined to speak to the agents, according to the outlet.

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) said in a press release issued Friday that the department, along with the FBI and the San Francisco Police, have opened a joint investigation into the break-in at Pelosi’s California home.
“The Speaker was in Washington, D.C. with her protective detail at the time of the overnight, break-in,” the press release continued. “During the California break-in, the Speaker’s husband was assaulted, but he is now recovering.”
Mr. Pelosi was hit in the head with a hammer by the intruder and underwent surgery Friday for a fractured skull. He is expected to make a full recovery, a press release from the speaker said.
“The San Francisco Police Department has the suspect in custody. The motivation for the attack is still under investigation,” the USCP added. “Special Agents with the USCP’s California Field Office quickly arrived on scene, while a team of investigators from the Department’s Threat Assessment Section was simultaneously dispatched from the East Coast to assist the FBI and the San Francisco Police with a joint investigation.”
San Francisco Police Chief William Scott told reporters Friday that the 911 dispatcher who took Mr. Pelosi’s call during the attack had “good instincts” and was able to “read between the lines” when the victim spoke in “code.”
“She knew something more was going on, just in her heart and her intuition, just with her experience,” Scott said, The Daily Wire previously reported. “And that calls for a higher priority than this type of call normally receives. This was a well-being check. And she just knew there was more to it. So, she alerted our officers, she went that extra step … and that led to a quicker response.”
