In July 2024, actor George Clooney made headlines when he wrote an op-ed for The New York Times calling on Biden to drop out of the race, noting how the president wasn’t mentally fit, which in part helped open the door for the party to replace Biden with former Vice President Kamala Harris. During a recent appearance on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Clooney defended his Biden op-ed, as RedState previously reported.
“I was raised to tell the truth,” Clooney said, noting how he saw Biden up close at a fundraiser in June 2024 and he “was surprised.”
“I feel as if there was a lot of profiles and cowardice in my party through all of that, and I was not proud of that and also I believed I had to tell the truth,” he added.
