A conservative political advocacy group is launching Spanish-language ads reminding non-citizens that it is illegal for them to vote in federal elections.
The group – Look Ahead America – is a nonprofit headed up by Matt Braynard, a former strategic director for Donald J. Trump’s 2016 campaign.
The ads are running strategically in major cities in the crucial presidential swing states of Nevada and Arizona, but the group is seeking to expand to major markets in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
“Noncitizens voting in federal elections is illegal under the ‘Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996,’” Braynard said in a statement announcing the ad blitz.
“However, there are still cases of it occurring, putting noncitizens at risk of facing serious charges and of affecting the outcome of our elections,” he claims.
