If you guessed “Big Pharma,” you would be right.
At this point, you almost have to assume that any social media movement is being pushed for a base motive, just as you have to assume until evidence proves otherwise that any racist incident is a hoax. It is all about gaining social, political, or monetary capital.
Right or wrong, good or bad, just or unjust, or even healthy or unhealthy have nothing to do with any of these movements. It’s all about getting yours and screwing everybody else.
The Obesity Action Coalition has been a primary vehicle for the grassroots movement to accept obesity as the new norm under the banner of “Body Positivity.” The group also gets a third of its funding from the pharmaceutical industry.
