Vice President Kamala Harris broke her silence on the deaths of 13 U.S. service members in Kabul on the third anniversary of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. She released a statement as her opponent in the 2024 presidential race, former President Donald Trump, honored the 13 in a ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
“Three years ago today, outside of Kabul Airport, an ISIS terrorist killed 13 American service members and more than 100 innocent Afghans, and wounded many more,” Harris said in a statement posted to the White House website. She listed the fallen.
