I wanted to clear up some confusion about Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. She is creating some media buzz over her callous remarks on the murder and rape of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray.
The Harris County Judge is not a ‘real’ judge. It is the county CEO position. She was not elected as a judge in the county’s judicial system. She was elected to manage the county. It’s squirrely, I know, but that’s how it is in Texas. The position makes her the county’s chief executive and emergency manager.
People who don’t live here were rightly confused. There was outrage over Hidalgo’s remarks about crimes committed by illegal aliens. Hidalgo is more concerned about the hurt feelings of illegal aliens than the senseless and violent murder of a 12-year-old child.
