At this point Democrats don’t seem to know which way is up, and the House Democrats don’t seem to be on the same page at all with the Senate Democrats.
As we reported on Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) caved and said he would be voting for the House stopgap continuing resolution. He did that in the face of reported division and screaming after a lunch meeting with Democratic senators where there were some who didn’t want to go to a government shutdown. Translation? He probably knew there were enough defectors.
