This may be the estrogen vs. testosterone election when it comes to competing messages and voting blocs, but the voters are divided between those who want technocrats to run the world and those who still believe that our government should represent the will of the voters.
Lots of issues are driving people to the polls–the economy and immigration on one side, abortion and “democracy” on the other.
But except for abortion–an issue with absolutely unique power to mobilize some people–the election is really a referendum about whether experts should run things or people.
