In Fundraising Race Ahead of ’26, Democrats Take Early Lead

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is outpacing the National Republican Congressional Committee in fundraising, according to recent campaign finance disclosures. They show that at the end of April, the DCCC had hauled in $1 million more than its Republican counterpart.

In total, the DCCC raised $8.1 million, compared with the NRCC’s $7 million. 

This snapshot of the fundraising numbers come as the 2026 midterm elections are shaping up, as usual, to be a fierce battle. Historically, midterm elections favor the party out of power, and Republicans currently hold slender margins in both the House and the Senate. Republicans hold 220 seats in the House and need at least 218 to maintain a majority in the 435-seat chamber. In the Senate, the GOP holds 53 of 100 seats.
