Indiana Republican Congressional candidate Jennifer-Ruth Green blasted her opponent — incumbent Rep. Frank Mrvan (D-IN) — claiming that his campaign team had illegally obtained her private military records and shopped them to media outlets.
Green delivered a lengthy statement on Monday, following an article Politico published on Friday that included the contents of some of those private records — such as Green’s performance reviews and details of a sexual assault that she says her superiors advised her not to report.
The Air Force Academy graduate shared what had happened in a Twitter thread, criticizing Mrvan and his campaign team for “illegally obtaining” her military records and Politico for publishing the information — including the details of the alleged assault.
I’m a survivor of sexual trauma in the military. I am being forced to share this information outside of my own timeline and for the first time publicly because my Congressman, Frank Mrvan, and his cronies illegally obtained my military records describing my sexual assault. (3/11)

“I’m a survivor of sexual trauma in the military,” Green added. “I am being forced to share this information outside of my own timeline and for the first time publicly because my Congressman, Frank Mrvan, and his cronies illegally obtained my military records describing my sexual assault.”
Green went on to say that the records included performance reviews which, if taken alone, could make it appear as though she had been a substandard officer — but she added that it was her belief that the less-than-stellar reviews had been retaliatory in nature and had come only after she reported the alleged assault, despite being warned not to by some in her command.
I believe after sharing my assault against the advice of some in my command, my career was intentionally derailed. The paperwork Congressman Mrvan illegally obtained contains information that reflects me in a negative light. (5/11)

“I have since appealed the incident with the military, and the entire issue is settled,” Green continued. “Clearly, I have progressed as a military member, promoting to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and successfully completing a command tour.”
I have written to the U.S. Attorney, the Air Force Inspector General, and the Department of Defense asking them to launch criminal probes into the release of my confidential personnel file. (7/11)

“I have written to the U.S. Attorney, the Air Force Inspector General, and the Department of Defense asking them to launch criminal probes into the release of my confidential personnel file,” she added.
Green then turned her attention back to Mrvan — whom she said she had “applauded” when he authored the Military Sexual Trauma bill — and said that she was “saddened” to see him use private information against her.
It’s unacceptable for every vet, it’s unacceptable for every woman, and it’s unacceptable for anyone who has ever been a victim of sexual assault. (9/11)

“It’s unacceptable for every vet, it’s unacceptable for every woman, and it’s unacceptable for anyone who has ever been a victim of sexual assault,” she said.
Politico reportedly denied that the information came directly from Mrvan’s campaign team, saying instead that the records “were obtained by a public records request and provided to Politico by a person outside the Mrvan campaign.”
Green took direct aim at Adam Wren, the author of the Politico piece, adding, “The reality of it is – like I said at one point in my life to my assailant, ‘No. Please stop. Don’t.’ – and he did what he wanted to do … This is the exact same situation all over again, all because there was a man who wanted some sort of gratification.”
