Jay Leno let camera crews in to see what kind of treatment he was undergoing after suffering “significant burns” when one of the cars he’s collected, a 1907 White Steam Car, caught fire in his garage earlier this week while he was working on it.
The 72-year-old comedian appeared in an interview for “Inside Edition” on Wednesday where fans can see him lying in a hyperbaric chamber for treatment on his second- and third-degree burns.
His left arm is wrapped in bandages from his elbow to over his hand. On Leno’s right arm, there appeared to be less bandaging.

In the interview, Dr. Peter Grossman, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Los Angeles, explained the importance of undergoing the treatment.
“It helps decrease swelling, it helps increase blood flow with good oxygenation, and it helps decrease bacteria,” Grossman told the outlet. “He’s [Leno’s] had skin grafts that are not his own, meaning the skin we have from a skin bank and from donor skin, that’s what we do as a first stage.”

Earlier that day, Leno’s doctor told reports that the former late-night talk show host was in “good condition” after having “significant burns to his face and hands and chest” and required a “surgical excision and grafting procedure,” as The Daily Wire previously reported.
“He [Leno] seems to be a gentleman who really doesn’t want to make a big deal of this,” Grossman shared, according to Fox News. “He wants to get back to work, that’s what he does. I had to tell him that he needs to step back a bit and that these things take time.”
“Burn injuries are progressive and dynamic,” Grossman added. “It’s hard to predict what the final outcome will be at this stage.”
The doctor also told the press Leno was already helping “pass out cookies to some of the children in the burn unit “and “cracking jokes.”
Leno has credited his close friend with saving his life after his quick thinking resulted in putting out the flames that could have otherwise possibly led to his death, as previously reported.
