On Tuesday, the Rifle, Colorado Police Department announced that Rep. Lauren Boebert‘s son Tyler Boebert had been arrested and faced multiple charges.
“The arrest comes after a recent string of vehicle trespass and property thefts in Rifle,” they wrote on their Facebook page.
The 18-year-old is “facing the following charges: four felony counts of Criminal Possession ID Documents – Multiple Victims, one felony count of Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and over 15 additional misdemeanor and petty offenses,” they also noted.
In a statement released after the news became public knowledge, Boebert said her heart was broken, and acknowledged that her son “should be held accountable for poor decisions just like any other citizen”:
