Rapper Kanye West weighed in on the topic of abortion during an interview this week where he said he does not care about people’s reactions to him being pro-life.
West made the remarks during a wide-ranging interview Thursday night with Fox News host Tucker Carlson after arriving back in the U.S. from Paris where he attended Fashion Week.
“And you have a lanyard still on from [Paris Fashion Week], and there’s a photograph on it,” Carlson said. “What is that?”
“It’s a photograph of a baby’s ultrasound,” West said of the badge that he designed. “It just represents life and pro-life.”
“Boy, so you wear it on a badge. What kind of response do you get?” Carlson asked. “And good. Amen. I agree.”
“I don’t care about people’s responses,” the rapper said. “I care about the fact that there’s more black babies being aborted than born in New York City at this point, that 50% of black death in America is abortion.”
“So, I really don’t care about people’s responses,” he continued. “I perform for an audience of one, and that’s God.”
West said that he became convinced that he needed to start expressing his opinions more during the 2016 presidential election.
