Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass stood silent as reporters asked her tough questions on Wednesday about her handling of the devastating fires that erupted in her city while she was out of the country.
The questions came after Bass had to return home from a trip she was taking to Ghana to see the country’s new president sworn into office.
“Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent while their homes were burning?” a reporter asked Bass at the airport.
Bass ignored the question.
“Do you regret cutting the fire department budget by millions of dollars, Madam Mayor?” the reporter continued.
Again, Bass ignored the question about why she cut millions of dollars from the fire department, the second largest cut that she made in her budget for this fiscal year.
