Springfield, Ohio, has become a very popular subject on chat boards around the country for a few weeks. If they are to be believed, some residents of the small town are complaining about Haitian immigrants kidnapping waterfowl from local parks and bushwhacking neighborhood cats for dinner. Don’t know how true the stories are, or to what extent they might be, but I have seen citizens of Springfield complain to the town council that not only is this going on, but Haitians are being gifted driver’s licenses and then tearing up the roads to the tune of several accidents a day.
Haiti is a very poor country and has been the home of unstable governments for decades. Most people don’t own cars, and those that do have questionable driving habits. I have never been to Haiti, but I have been to neighboring Jamaica, and those guys make the chase scene in “Bullit” look like two dudes…
