While the Latino networks quickly buried Monday´s deadly Nashville school shooting when it was learned that the assassin was a deranged transsexual, the prospect of a dream coming true in the shape of a Donald Trump mug shot was too much to ignore.
Just watch this compilation from newscasts that aired over Telemundo, Univision and CNN En Español this past week; a case history for just how obsessed the progressive Spanish-language media is with the former president:
NACHO LOZANO, TELEMUNDO: If there is an arrest, what would we be looking at?
MARIA PAULA OCHOA:
Most likely, we’ve been told, is that they’d be taking his fingerprints, that famous photo also, the mug shot.
[…]
JUAN CARLOS LOPEZ, CNNEE: Former President Trump will show up, fingerprints will be taken, the photo
MANUEL RETURETA, LAWYER: Definitely. The process is very simple; He appears, the fingerprints are taken, they take his photograph, and the process begins at that moment. It’s a normal process for anyone.
[…]
PEGGY CARRANZA, UNIVISION: And like anyone else, he would have to be fingerprinted and also photographed.
…
He would have to be fingerprinted, even photographed for the police record
…
He should be fingerprinted in addition to being photographed for the police record
…
He will have to appear here before a judge; he will be fingerprinted and photographed for the police record
[…]
JOSEPH MALOUF, TELEMUNDO: It is very likely that he will be fingerprinted, photographed
[…]
NAYELI CHAVEZ-GELLER, UNIVISION: and processed with a photograph, with fingerprints
[…]
BARRY DEONARINE,ATTORNEY: He has to show up to be detained. With photos and fingerprints
[…]
BLANCA ROSA VILCHES, UNIVISION: The process is to take his fingerprints, a photograph and probably handcuff him.
[…]
CRISTINA LONDOÑO, TELEMUNDO: But I think that the most disturbing image Americans might see is that mugshot of a former president of the United States from the front and from the side, with an ID number.
With Donald Trump´s arraignment in Manhattan set for next Tuesday, April 7th, we can expect a barrage of “news” about DJT´s mugshot at the Latino networks. We’ll be watching.
