Man Accused Of Las Vegas Mass Stabbing Spree Is Illegally In U.S., Wanted To Be Deported, Reports Say

The man who allegedly carried out a deadly mass stabbing spree in Las Vegas this week is an illegal alien.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing outside the Wynn casino off of Las Vegas Boulevard just before noon on Thursday. At least two people have died from the attack and six others were injured, including three who were listed as being in critical condition.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said that the man suspected of carrying out the attack, 32-year-old Yoni Barrios, is a Guatemalan national who is illegally in the United States.

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin reported that the suspect had a prior criminal record in the state of California, yet he was not known to federal immigration authorities.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has not ruled out pursuing the death penalty for the suspect.

“We are going to give it serious consideration,” Wolfson said. “But it’s so early on.”

The suspect moved to Las Vegas from California two days prior to the attack and he had planned on moving in with a friend. However, that living arrangement did not work out.

The suspect claimed to law enforcement that passengers on a bus he took to Las Vegas made fun of him and treated him like he was not a person.

A report from Fox 5 Las Vegas said that the suspect tried to get a ride back to California, but was unsuccessful. The suspect then walked into a casino and asked if they had any job openings to be a janitor. Finally, the suspect reportedly asked a janitor at the casino to call ICE officials so he could be deported back to his country of origin.

Barrios claimed that a security guard at the hotel told him to “jump in front of train.”

Barrios then allegedly approached a group of women, and when one of girls felt uncomfortable and started to back away out of fear, Barrios then charged at the women and began stabbing them.

Barrios claimed that the women were “laughing at him and making fun of his clothing” and that he “became angry and stabbed one of the women in the chest after which he began stabbing the other women in the group as they ran away.”

The illegal alien then reportedly started looking for random groups of people to attack so that he could “let the anger out” on them.
