A man arrested in connection with stabbing Las Vegas Police Department (LVMPD) K9 “Enzo” is apparently wanted by Missouri authorities for a homicide committed earlier this year.
Enzo, a nearly three-year-old Belgian Malinois, was airlifted to a veterinary trauma hospital and underwent surgery after sustaining stabbing injuries on Friday when LVMPD responded to a call regarding a suicidal male at the 1200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard around 1:08 p.m.
The suspect, Thurman Lowe, 64, who sustained self-inflicted stab wounds, created a barricade situation, lighting an apartment on fire and charging at police officers with a knife. Lowe was apprehended using less-than-lethal tactics, including deploying a K9 unit. That’s when Lowe began stabbing K9 Enzo multiple times.
