Mattel hid any of the company DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) plans for the coming year, reversing course from a year earlier when it told investors it would “increase representation of ethnicity at all levels of the organization.”
In a proxy statement dated April 3 from the company behind Barbie, ahead of its annual shareholder meeting, references to things like “diversity” or “ethnicity” initiatives or resources were missing, per the Hollywood Reporter.
Shortly after being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, President Donald Trump signed an executive order ending DEI practices in federal agencies and warning corporate America it needed to follow suit.
In a statement to the outlet, Mattel said that “inclusion is part of our DNA.”
