The mayors of Boston, Chicago, Denver and New York City were invited to testify before the House Oversight Committee regarding their sanctuary city policies for illegal immigrants.
“Sanctuary jurisdictions and their misguided and obstructionist policies hinder the ability of federal law enforcement officers to effectuate safe arrests and remove dangerous criminals from American communities, making Americans less safe,” committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) wrote in the letters to each mayor.
Comer’s letter requested documents and information related to each city’s sanctuary policies and invited Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Denver Mayor Mike Johnston and New York City Mayor Eric Adams to testify on February 11.
