Melania Trump has opted to skip a traditional tea meeting between incoming and outgoing First Ladies, despite having an invite extended by Joe and Jill Biden.
The Daily Mail first reported on the snub and CNN has further confirmed through sources that the meeting is unlikely to take place.
Melania’s husband, President-elect Donald Trump, is set to meet President Biden at the White House on Wednesday. The meeting is meant to symbolize a peaceful transfer of power. While the Presidents meet in the Oval Office, the First Ladies typically meet for tea in the residence.
But Melania did not host the traditional tea after a contentious 2020 election. And she appears to have no desire to meet Dr. Jill Biden again this go around.
“Mrs. Trump is not going, and they have not spoken,” a source told the Mail.
