Minnesota State Senator Charged With Burglary Claims She Was Checking on Alzheimer’s-Afflicted Relative – RedState

A Democratic Minnesota State senator who was recently arrested and charged with first-degree burglary has offered an interesting defense of her actions after being caught breaking into her stepmother’s residence in Detroit Lakes.

The incident surprised many, especially members of the state legislature, some of whom have called for her resignation.

State Sen. Nicole Mitchell, 49, after being charged, wrote a post on Facebook in which she claimed she broke into the home to check on a “loved one” who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Over the weekend, I learned of medical information which caused me grave concern and prompted me to check on that family member. I entered a home I have come and gone from countless times in the past 20 years, where my son even once had his own room.
