A producer for Fox News asked a White House spokesperson why President Biden apologized for using the term illegal during his State of the Union address as they traveled to New Hampshire this morning. Aboard Air Force One, White House Deputy Press Secretary Olivia Dalton immediately pushed back on the question.
She said that President Biden ‘regrets’ using the term. He did not apologize for using it.
I want to be really clear about something the President absolutely did not apologize. There was no apology anywhere in that conversation. He did not apologize. He used a different word. I think what we should be really clear about is the facts… I think is it unconscionable that there are some people who are playing politics with this young woman’s tragic murder.
