I have loads of sympathy for disabled people, mostly because I’ve been around them. My mother, for the last fifteen years of her life, suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis that gradually transformed her spine into a stack of rice cakes, eventually causing enough damage that she could no longer stand or walk. My in-laws, who are lovely people, are both disabled; my father-in-law is blind and suffers from neuropathy in his legs while my mother-in-law has digestive issues that weaken her and cause other physical problems. And, finally, my wife has a chronic cardiac condition that prevents her from walking any distance as well as a neurological condition that causes pain and loss of balance.
So, I understand the problems the disabled go through in travel, especially when traveling by air. But I have a hard time mustering up a lot of sympathy for a traveler…
