The 2025 Academy Awards nominations were announced on Thursday morning. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences delayed the announcement from January 17 due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area, which gave members a longer time to vote.
The 97th Annual Academy Awards will be hosted by stand-up comedian and former late-night host Conan O’Brien. The Oscars ceremony will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu.
The controversial musical crime drama “Emilia Pérez,” a film about a Mexican drug lord who becomes a transgender woman, led the nominations with 13 total nods. “Conclave,” a drama about electing a new pope, earned eight nominations but missed out on a Best Director nomination for Edward Berger and didn’t get a nod for cinematography, which many insiders had predicted.
