PBS Analyzes Trump’s Chaotic First 100 Days: Fear, Loathing, and Challenges

Public television marked President Trump’s first 100 days in office with a dose of fear and loathing Monday evening, courtesy of the PBS News Hour’s most liberal reporter Laura Barron-Lopez and her guest, hostile presidential historian Mark Updegrove.

Barron-Lopez dutifully issued warnings.

The process of enforcing immigration law and student visa requirements were reduced to a “dragnet” by Barron-Lopez, and she lamented Trump was “invoking the 18th century Alien Enemies Act” that allowed the deportation of “Venezuelan migrants alleged to be gang members without due process.”

The historian gave his ideological preferences away when he included USAID and the Department of Education (the latter founded in 1979 and threatened by Trump) as programs somehow “baked into American life.”
