PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has decided your kid’s favorite carnival ride must be eliminated after the extreme animal rights organization slammed the use of animal-themed carousels as “exploitation” and more.
In a letter to the country’s largest manufacturer of carousels, Kansas-based Chance Rides, the organization claimed that using designs of horses and other animals “unintentionally celebrates the exploitation” of animals that are “thinking, feeling, affectionate, playful, and social beings,” the New York Post reported.
“Animal-themed carousel sets reinforce the notion that these sentient beings are simply here for our entertainment, rather than individuals with the same capacity to experience fear, pain, joy, and love as any of us,” the letter added.
