On Thursday, President Trump welcomed Il primo ministro italiano Giorgia Meloni (Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni) to the White House. In recent months, Italy has surfaced as one of the United States’ best allies in Europe, and PM Meloni, a supporter of President Trump.

The President replied to assembled reporters as PM Meloni exited the automobile:
Reporter: “How confident are you, sir, that you can make a trade deal with the EU?”
President Trump: “Very confident.”
Reporter: “With regard to Italy, sir, (inaudible)”
