Priorities: ABC, CBS Spend More Time on January 6, Mar-a-Lago Than Soaring Inflation

On Thursday, the broadcast network morning news programs showed what matters to them most. They combined to have spent more time on the last hearing of the House Select Committee on January 6 and the latest leaks against former President Trump than Americans struggling to make ends meet amid record-high gas prices, soaring food costs, and surging inflation.

ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS Mornings, and NBC’s Today spent a total of 12 minutes and 50 seconds on January 6 and the Mar-a-Lago raid and 11 minutes and 50 seconds on inflation.

It should be noted nearly three quarters of the inflation total (eight minutes and 34 seconds) came from NBC’s Today, which was the only network to give more time to the state of the economy than January 6 and Trump (three minutes and 49 seconds).

In contrast, ABC and CBS gave far more time to their pet projects than showing any real concern for Americans wondering where their next meal is going to come from.

CBS Mornings led the way in tone deafness with three minutes and 46 seconds on Trump-related subjects and a whopping zero seconds on inflation.

“Now to the House Select Committee investigating the January 6th assault on the capitol which will hold its last planned public hearing in a few hours. Committee members say they will share never-before-seen images and revelations about the attack and new information about former president Trump’s role in a plot to overturn the election results,” boasted CBS Mornings co-host and Democratic donor Gayle King.

The perpetually-January 6 obsessed Scott MacFarlane followed with report that, as expected, sounded like he was serving as a committee spokesman (click “expand”):

This hearing will look and sound different. There will be no live witnesses this time, and all nine panel members will make part of this closing argument with just weeks remaining for the committee to wrap up its work. The House January 6th Select Committee is not only attempting to show some of its newest findings but also trying to regain America’s attention.

The panel says it will also focus on Trump’s state of mind ahead of and during the attack, and will show what they call his centrality in the scheme to overturn the election

(….)

The committee will also issue a final written report. It must do so by the end of December. And all of this is happening against a backdrop of the midterm elections which, Gayle, are now less than four weeks away.

ABC’s Good Morning America didn’t have a zero on inflation, but it was still far less than what they gave to obsessing over January 6 (five minutes and 15 seconds on January 6 and Trump to three minutes and 15 seconds on the economy). Worse yet, January 6 and Trump led off the first three half-hours of the show.

“We start with the breaking news overnight in the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation. The Washington Post is reporting that a Trump employee told aides about being directly ordered to move the box by the former President himself. The transfer was caught on surveillance camera,” stated GMA co-host and former Clinton aide George Stephanopoulos at 7:02 a.m. Eastern.

Chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl first touched on The Post’s reporting before ending with January 6:

Look at this as the closing argument, the January 6th committee is going to come back to what has really been their central theme and that is that it was Donald Trump that set in motion the series of events that led to the attack on the capitol on January 6th and it was Donald Trump who even as he saw what was unfolding, even as he saw his own supporters attacking the building, did nothing to stop them. No new witnesses, but there is new — they do have new evidence.

Let this serve as the latest lesson to the American public that, time and time again, the liberal media will always put their liberal priorities over your livelihood.

The liberal media’s decision that January 6 and attacking Trump matters more than Americans being able to eat and have a roof over their heads was made possible thanks to the backing of advertisers such as Discover (on ABC) and Princess Cruises (on CBS).
