Revisiting Reagan’s 1985 Indoor Inauguration Ahead Of Trump’s Inside U.S. Capitol Rotunda

President-elect Donald Trump announced that his second inauguration will be moved indoors to the U.S. Capitol Rotunda due to the freezing temperatures that are predicted for Washington, D.C., on Monday.

Following the news, a White House reporter shared a photo from the last inauguration to be held inside, which was when the late President Ronald Regan was sworn into office for a second term in 1985 due to extremely cold weather. The image showed a packed room of politicians, dignitaries, and guests surrounding Reagan, who was standing at the podium in the middle of the room as he gave remarks during his inaugural ceremony.

The post included a link to Reagan’s Presidential Library, which contained tons of photos from the inauguration, including several pictures of him being sworn-in for a second term in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol standing by former first lady Nancy Reagan.
