The Republican National Committee (RNC) headquarters in Washington, D.C., went under lockdown on Wednesday, reportedly as investigators looked into a potentially hazardous substance.
NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns broke the news on X, posting, “DEVELOPING: RNC HQ in DC is under lockdown until further notice. Hazmat team is on site sources tell me.”
She later reported, citing three sources, that “vials of blood were sent to the RNC…”
Capitol Police told congressional offices they are investigating a “suspicious substance” at the RNC’s address, according to a notice obtained by Axios.
“Staff and other personnel are directed to AVOID THIS AREA until further notice,” the message said, as relayed by reporter Andrew Slender.
