‘Sad’ Joy Reid Bemoans North Carolina GOP Win: Obama Should’ve Helped!

In the immediate aftermath of the Republican victory in North Carolina in which Ted Budd defeated Democrat Cheri Beasley, MSNBC’s Joy Reid expressed her disappointment in the Democrat Party for not investing more in the race and deciding not to send former President Barack Obama there to campaign for Beasley.

Reid lashed out that “we talked about this the other day when we talked about the Obama effect. Democrats are gonna have to be thinking, tonight should we have sent Obama there?”

“This is such a narrow margin. And the idea that this wasn’t competitive, again, Barack Obama won that state in 2008 by 14,000 votes. He only lost it by 90,000 votes. The governor is a Democrat,” Reid continued.

She then lashed out at the Democrat Party’s failed strategy in prioritizing election resources and writing off what she describes as winnable races:

Democrats have to start rethinking what they think are winnable states. There’s so fixated on states like Florida. North Carolina is the state where they should be investing. $90 million they spend on the ground, this was a state that didn’t get the attention, the investment. I think toward the end Cheri Beasley was basically out of money.

“The reality is if you think about how the ground game has worked for Democrats, and now spending on ground has really done wonders for them in all of these states, where the sort of narrative was that they were gonna get washed out in some red wave, which I think was bs, honestly,” Reid continued.

Displaying her sadness once again she cried that “in this state, I think this was a winnable state. This one is sad.”
