The other night, the president gave a speech. And he said some stuff. And as usual, the opposition was oppositional. Back in the BeforeTime, the legislature would generally clap politely even if they did not agree with all of the president’s words, and then they would turn to their spox for the official rebuttal afterward.
Today, this point of decorum is no longer sufficient, as protocols must be wrecked in order to collect scalps. Outbursts must be recorded and disseminated, and silence (which once was considered violence by the Left) has to be so obvious that it will become its own story. Because it’s not wrong when they do it.
