During the 1988 Democrat National Convention, Texas Democrat Gov. Ann Richards famously said during her keynote address, “Poor George, he can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth,” in reference to Vice President George H.W. Bush, who would go on to win presidential election in November.
Today, in reference to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor we might rewrite the quote, thusly: “Poor Sonia Sotomayor, she can’t help it. She was born with a politically-predisposed left-wing foot in her mouth.”
