Because Democratic voters in New York City aren’t particularly discerning when it comes to who they elect to represent them, Congress gets stuck with (potential) lifetimers like Rep. Jamaal Bowman, politicos who – as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi once noted – were in heavily Democratic districts where a “glass of water” could win if it had a “D” beside it.
Since he’s been there, though, having been elected in 2020 after upsetting longtime Democratic Rep. Eliot Engel in the primary, Bowman has caused nothing but trouble for himself and his party – and not the “good” kind of trouble Democrats often brag about making.
