Stephen Miller, President Donald Trump’s fiery deputy chief of staff and one of his top advisors, is reportedly the top contender to replace Mike Waltz as Trump’s next National Security Advisor.
Waltz abruptly left the position on Thursday. Initially, there was speculation that it was tied to “Signalgate,” after it was revealed that Trump administration officials used the Signal app to discuss sensitive military operations and that a journalist was mistakenly added to a private group chat. But Trump then announced he was nominating Waltz to serve as UN Ambassador.
According to Axios, five sources familiar with the situation told the outlet that Miller was likely to get the job — if he wants it. More on that in a bit.
