The man suspected of assassinating UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is set to be extradited to New York where he was charged with murder on Monday after being arrested at an Altoona, Pennsylvania, McDonald’s fast food restaurant on firearms charges.
Luigi Mangione, 26, was nabbed by Altoona police on Monday afternoon after a McDonald’s employee tipped off law enforcement while the suspect was eating. Mangione was charged with possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a forged instrument, and criminal possession of a weapon, ABC News reported.
The suspect remains in the custody of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. When Altoona police asked him if he had been to New York City recently, Mangione started shaking, according to the charging document. Mangione’s mug shot was released by the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections on Monday night.
