San Antonio police responded to a domestic violence call early Sunday morning but were met with gunfire from an assailant armed with a rifle. One officer was hit multiple times but is expected to survive. Police Chief William McManus described what transpired:

“When officers went into the apartment, he was lying in bed with a rifle by his side and he started shooting at the officers,” McManus said. “The officers returned fire and exited the apartment. One of our officers was shot multiple times, and she is currently in the hospital.”
