The Anti-War Left Is Dead And Gone – If It Ever Even Existed

It’s not complex. The driving force behind the Left’s political agenda is a hatred of Republicans, as well as a lust for power.

For example, consider the long-forgotten anti-war progressives. Do you remember those crazy anti-war demonstrations during the Bush years?

Thousands of hippies and gray-haired women and men in black jeans demonstrated in the early 2000s by comparing Dubya to Hitler, calling American troops Nazis, and dissent was considered patriotic. Then — poof — those folks disappeared when President Barack Obama was elected — despite the Iraq war and Afghanistan war continuing — and haven’t been seen since.

On Monday, it looked like the “progressive” wing of the Democratic Party was ready to re-launch those sorts of efforts by finally voicing opposition to President Joe Biden’s strategy in Ukraine, but that plan was promptly snuffed out by Democratic elites.

Congresswoman Prima Jayapal (D-WA) had authored a letter co-signed by 50 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) asking Biden to proactively seek peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

By Tuesday morning, the CPC had retracted the letter and blamed anonymous staffers for sending it in the first place.

Subsequent comments from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sent a message loud and clear: The Swamp wants this war to last as long as possible. Keep it quiet, peaceniks.

Folks like Congressman Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) dutifully got in line.

It’s unlikely that the Democratic base even knew the letter was sent in the first place.

The larger story is that the anti-war Left is dead and gone — if it ever even existed.

Jayapal’s reasoning for pulling the letter was chiefly because calling for peace talks appeared to line up with GOP talking points — which is a no-go. It appears that leftists can’t call for an end to bloodshed if it means that certain Republicans would march alongside them.

In recent weeks, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) dared suggest that the U.S. has to reconsider whether or not we want to provide Ukrainian President Volodmy Zelensky with a blank check.

Because of that, Jayapal cited McCarthy as the sort of person she — and her colleagues — don’t want to be associated with.

“Because of the timing, our message is being conflated by some as being equivalent to the recent statement by Republican Leader McCarthy threatening an end to aid to Ukraine if Republicans take over,” Jayapal said, noting that the letter “created the unfortunate appearance that Democrats … are somehow aligned with Republicans who seek to pull the plug on American support for President Zelensky and the Ukrainian forces.”

In other words, the CPC would rather support Biden as he bumbles, stumbles, and fumbles the entire globe to World War III than engage in bipartisanship.

Of course, the Democratic Party at large is actually in cahoots with Republican leaders as it relates to Ukraine.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said in the spring, “We all agree that Ukraine is the most important thing in the world right now.”

More recently, he announced that a GOP-led Senate “will focus its oversight on ensuring timely delivery of needed weapons and greater allied assistance to Ukraine.”

According to a CNN report, Republicans in the House are also wary of their anti-war colleagues and members of the media who criticize Washington’s war effort.

It seems the only people who are consistently calling for peace in Ukraine are Pope Francis, Henry Kissinger, Donald Trump, and Elon Musk.

Musk was threatened by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) for tweeting a path toward ending the war.

So in other words, the entire Uniparty — the establishment of both sides — is hellbent on opposing any discussions of peace.

It seems evident that conservatives and non-woke individuals who support diplomacy want to save lives.

Yet, Jaypal made clear that progressives only want dialogue so long as it doesn’t mean they agree with Republicans.

She closed her statements by saying, “The letter sent yesterday … has been conflated with GOP opposition to support for the Ukrainians’ just defense of their national sovereignty. As such, it is a distraction at this time and we withdraw the letter.”

That conflation could help GOP right before the midterms.

For leftists, the war can continue if it helps Democrats maintain power.

They’re not anti-war and never have been. They’re political frauds who say whatever is needed to crush their political opponents.
