In 2022, the rift forming within the LGBT community became awfully noticeable with more and more gays and lesbians suggesting that maybe it’s time to kick out the “T.”
Lesbians, in particular, began speaking out about their rejection of transgender people in their spaces and how some lesbians were even being pushed out. “Lesbian erasure” became a real worry and joint publications wrote a joint statement condemning the invasion of men identifying as women into their biologically female spaces.

Later that year, this sentiment that the “T” doesn’t belong among the “LGB” grew. A trending hashtag, “#LGBKickOutTheT” appeared on Twitter.
