‘This Is Not Myth, This Is Not Conjecture, This Is Fact’: April Ryan Declares Stacey Abrams ‘A Winner’

The Grio’s White House Correspondent April Ryan declared once-failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams (D) “a winner” — and said that would still hold true even if she loses to incumbent Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) a second time in November.

Ryan made an appearance Thursday on the ABC midday talk show “The View,” and she argued that the Georgia Democrat was responsible for her state’s recent shift “from red to blue” with the elections of President Joe Biden, Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA).

“First of all, the baseline is that we have 299 GOP candidates who are election deniers, who are in a lot of these races that are too close to call,” she said, beginning her assessment of the fast-approaching midterm elections by attacking Republicans. “That’s the baseline right there.”

“Val Demings, the race is too close to call,” Ryan continued. “[Marco] Rubio is up on the latest poll that I saw. Cheri Beasley in North Carolina — two black women running for U.S. Senate — she’s trailing behind the candidate there. Stacey Abrams is trailing behind Kemp in the gubernatorial election there, but still the numbers are closer.”

“And let’s get to Warnock and …” Ryan trailed off as the show’s hosts and audience laughed and groaned at the mention of Warnock’s race. The hosts spent a full segment earlier in the week mocking Warnock’s opponent, former NFL player Herschel Walker, suggesting that he had possibly sustained brain damage. “And Warnock is winning that one though, by a small margin.”

Joy Behar cut in then, claiming that if there was a “huge turnout” on Election Day, the polls would be meaningless, prompting Sunny Hostin to interject, “Will black women save the world again?”

Ryan agreed, noting that black women typically show up at the polls in larger numbers and adding, “We saved Alabama, you know, with — you know, with the Roy Moore situation. And Georgia.”

“Stacey Abrams, the reason why there’s such a fierce fight against Stacey Abrams is because she’s a winner,” Ryan declared. “Granted, she did not win that gubernatorial race the first time, and even if she doesn’t win this time, that black woman changed that state from red to blue. End of story.”

“She is a winner,” Ryan said again, adding, “And they’re going after her. This is not myth, this is not conjecture, this is fact.”
